DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is an authentication system used to prove that an e-mail has been sent by an authorized server or person. A digital signature is attached to the header of the email message by using a private key. When the email is received, a public key that’s available in the global DNS database is used to validate who actually sent it and whether its content has been modified in any way. The principal job of DomainKeys Identified Mail is to block the widespread scam and spam emails, as it makes it impossible to forge an email address. If an email message is sent from an address claiming to belong to your bank, for example, but the signature does not correspond, you will either not get the email message at all, or you’ll receive it with a warning alert that most likely it is not a legitimate one. It depends on mail service providers what exactly will happen with an email message that fails the signature test. DKIM will also supply you with an extra layer of protection when you communicate with your business allies, for instance, since they can see that all the email messages that you send are legitimate and have not been tampered with in the meantime.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Cloud Website Hosting

If you purchase one of the cloud website hosting plans that we are offering, the DomainKeys Identified Mail functionality will be enabled by default for any domain name that you register under your hosting account, so you won’t need to set up any records or to do anything manually. When a domain is added in the Hosted Domains section of our custom Hepsia Control Panel using our NS and MX resource records (so that the emails associated with this domain will be handled by our cloud web hosting platform), a private cryptographic key will be issued straight away on our mail servers and a TXT record with a public key will be sent to the DNS database. All addresses set up with this domain name will be protected by DKIM, so if you send email messages such as regular newsletters, they will reach their target destination and the recipients will be sure that they are genuine, since the DomainKeys Identified Mail option makes it impossible for unsolicited people to forge your email addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you select one of the semi-dedicated plans that we’re offering, you will be able to use the DomainKeys Identified Mail option with any domain that you register through your brand-new account without any manual setup, as our outstanding cloud web hosting platform will set up all the required records automatically, on the condition that the domain uses our name servers. The latter is needed for a TXT resource record to be created for the domain name, as this is how the public cryptographic key can become available in the global DNS system. The private key will also be added automatically to our email servers, so whenever you send out a new email, it will include our platform’s digital signature. The number of junk email messages continues to increase every year and quite frequently spoofed addresses are used, but when you use our web hosting services, you and your clients or colleagues will not have to bother about that.
