Each personal computer or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program which communicates with the hardware equipment, including peripherals such as a mouse or a printer, together with any applications that are installed on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a web server, every single app runs within the parameters established by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This is valid for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software such as a media server. In case a virtual server is generated on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, so you can set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We offer you three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs available on the market and we offer all three of them rather than only 1 since we realize that you might want to install some software that has specific requirements with regards to the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there are various software programs you can install on the server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS if you would like to use one and for that reason we offer multiple Control Panels as well. If you ever decide that you want another OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the existing one and install the one that you want. We also offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

If you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the registration page because we want to give you a larger choice regarding the system environment on the machine as different applications could have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and risk-free Internet hosting service. Depending on your selection, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System if the one you have selected at first doesn't meet the requirements of the software that you'd like to run. We can also update the OS routinely in order to keep it as secure as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
